Gladstone Woman Critically Injured by Suspected Drunk Driver

GLADSTONE, Ore. – A Gladstone woman remains in the hospital with critical injuries two weeks after being struck by a suspected drunk driver on New Year’s Day. The victim, 46-year-old Lynae Dean, was hit while walking by 36-year-old Ashley Green, who has since been arrested and charged with felony assault and multiple misdemeanors.

According to police, the incident occurred when Green, allegedly under the influence, struck Dean with her vehicle. Green was arrested on charges of third-degree felony assault, reckless driving, driving under the influence, and reckless endangerment. While the legal consequences loom, Lynae’s family has expressed their pain and frustration over the extent of the harm caused.

Lynae’s son, Richie Seratt, has been by his mother’s side since the accident. He described the situation as a “nightmare” and expressed the emotional toll of seeing his mother in such a critical state. “It’s your worst possible nightmare. To see your mother like that, there’s nothing like it,” Seratt said, speaking of the traumatic experience.

Despite the gravity of the situation, Seratt remains hopeful. He mentioned that his mother’s condition has been “touch and go,” but recently she has shown signs of progress. “It went from not seeing any progress whatsoever to being able to hold her hand and hold it back, so that right there is Christmas for me,” Seratt shared.

The family continues to support Lynae as she faces a long road to recovery, holding on to the hope that she will pull through. Despite the challenges ahead, Seratt emphasized that the emotional and physical toll on their family is profound, and the arrest of the suspected driver does little to ease their pain.

As the investigation into the incident continues, the family of Lynae Dean remains focused on her recovery, taking each small victory as a sign of hope during this difficult time.
