Salem’s Northeast Center Street Set to Reopen After Power Pole Crash

Salem, OR – Northeast Center Street in Salem is expected to reopen Friday evening after being temporarily closed due to a power pole crash earlier in the day. The Salem Police Department announced that the street, which had been shut down between Northeast 14th and 17th Streets, will be cleared for traffic around 8 p.m.

The closure, which caused significant disruptions to local traffic, followed an incident where a power pole was damaged. Authorities worked throughout the day to assess the damage and ensure that the area was safe for both drivers and pedestrians. The downed pole also required utility crews to restore power to affected areas, further delaying the reopening.

According to the Salem Police Department, once the situation is resolved, traffic should flow as usual by Friday evening. Motorists are advised to plan alternate routes until the street is reopened. Local authorities are urging drivers to remain cautious and to follow any detour signs in place until the full reopening occurs.

Residents and commuters in the downtown area can expect the restored access to improve traffic conditions as businesses and the community return to normal activity later this evening.
