City Seeks Public Input on Initial Design for Upgraded Riverfront Park Playground

Salem, OR – The city has announced that it is seeking public feedback on the initial design plans for the upgraded playground at Riverfront Park. Residents and park-goers are encouraged to review the proposed design, which includes a variety of new features aimed at enhancing the overall park experience for families and visitors of all ages.

City officials have emphasized the importance of community involvement in the project, inviting the public to attend upcoming meetings, review design materials, and provide their feedback on the proposed changes. The goal is to ensure the playground meets the needs and desires of the community, while also creating an inviting and accessible space for children and families.

The design plan includes updates to existing play structures, new equipment, and improvements to the surrounding landscape. Enhancements are expected to feature modern, sustainable materials, as well as inclusive elements designed to accommodate children with different abilities.

“We are excited to hear from the community and ensure that the playground is designed in a way that reflects the values and preferences of those who will be using it most,” said a city spokesperson.

Public feedback sessions are set to take place in the coming weeks, where residents will have an opportunity to engage directly with designers and city planners. Additionally, online platforms will be available for those who cannot attend in person but still wish to share their thoughts.

The city plans to incorporate the input gathered during these sessions before finalizing the design. Construction is expected to begin later this year, with the completed playground slated to open in 2026.

For more information on the project or to view the design plans, residents are encouraged to visit the city’s official website or attend the upcoming feedback sessions.
