Convicted Kidnapper Negasi Zuberi Attempts Escape from Custody for Second Time

JACKSON COUNTY, OR— Negasi Zuberi, the 30-year-old man convicted of kidnapping two women in 2023, reportedly made a second attempt to escape custody in November, according to a sentencing memorandum filed in U.S. District Court last week. Zuberi, who was found guilty of the heinous crimes in October, had previously been linked to the abduction and confinement of his victims, one of whom was taken from Seattle and held captive in Klamath Falls, Oregon.

Zuberi’s first known escape attempt came just weeks after his conviction, sparking concerns about his ability to evade the justice system. According to court documents, the convicted kidnapper has shown continued defiance in the face of his legal troubles. Authorities are working to strengthen security measures following his attempt to flee.

In the 2023 case, one of the women was abducted in Seattle before being transported to Zuberi’s home in Klamath Falls. There, she was confined in a makeshift cell constructed from cinder blocks. After a period of captivity, the victim was able to escape and alert authorities, leading to Zuberi’s eventual capture and conviction.

The details surrounding Zuberi’s actions continue to disturb the public, as the nature of his crimes raises concerns about public safety. His case has drawn significant attention not only for the severity of the offenses but also for his repeated attempts to evade the legal consequences of his actions.

As the case progresses, law enforcement agencies are taking additional precautions to ensure Zuberi remains in custody, with some experts suggesting that his history of escape attempts may indicate a heightened risk to others.
