Salem, OR – — A 27-year-old woman from Keizer has been arrested following a shooting incident Thursday morning that left a man in critical condition.
According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to reports of gunfire in the Tierra Drive area of Northeast Salem around 10 a.m. Upon arrival, law enforcement found a 48-year-old male victim suffering from gunshot wounds.
The victim was immediately transported to a nearby hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Investigators identified and arrested Emily Smith of Keizer in connection with the shooting. She faces charges including attempted murder, with additional charges possible as the investigation continues.
Smith is scheduled to be arraigned later today. Authorities have yet to release further details about the motive or circumstances surrounding the shooting.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation, urging anyone with information to come forward.
