Salem Police Investigate Fatal Incident in West Salem, Suspecting Hit-and-Run

Salem, OR – The Salem Police Department is investigating the death of a 63-year-old man, who was found dead in the road in West Salem Monday night. Authorities are treating the case as a potential hit-and-run.

Around 8:30 p.m. on December 23, police received a report of an injured man found in the roadway near Murlark Avenue and Edgewater Street Northwest. When paramedics arrived at the scene, the man was pronounced dead shortly afterward.

The police closed down the intersection for several hours while they conducted their investigation. As of now, no further details have been released about the circumstances leading to the man’s death.

Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist with the investigation. The department has not yet identified the man, and it is unclear if there are any witnesses or security footage that may help shed light on the incident.
