Three Teens Arrested Following East Salem Shooting

SALEM, Ore. – Three teenage boys were taken into custody Wednesday morning following a shooting in the Middle Grove area of east Salem, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to reports of gunfire around 11 a.m. on May 28 in the typically quiet residential neighborhood. Authorities quickly arrived on scene and initiated an investigation, which led to the arrest of the three juveniles later that day.

Details about the incident remain limited as the investigation is ongoing. Officials have not released the identities or ages of the suspects due to their juvenile status. It is also unclear whether anyone was injured during the shooting or what may have prompted the violence.

The Sheriff’s Office has emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to the public. Residents in the area reported a heavy law enforcement presence in the hours following the incident, with several patrol units canvassing the neighborhood for evidence and witnesses.

This latest incident adds to a growing concern over youth-involved gun violence in the Salem area. In a separate case earlier this year, a 17-year-old boy was arrested in connection with a February shooting near Swegle Elementary School in northeast Salem. That teenager faces charges of attempted murder and assault.

Law enforcement officials are urging anyone with information about Wednesday’s shooting to contact the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. Community members are encouraged to come forward as authorities work to piece together the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
