Second Suspect Arrested in Clackamas Town Center Shooting

Clackamas, OR — A second suspect has been arrested in connection with a shooting that left a 15-year-old boy injured at the Clackamas Town Center parking lot on December 20, 2024. According to the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, 20-year-old Carlos Raul Hererra-Medrano of Gresham was taken into custody on December 31, 2024, following an extensive investigation.

The shooting occurred in the parking lot of the popular shopping center on Southeast 82nd Avenue when deputies responded to reports of gunfire. Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement found the teenage victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his hand. He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Earlier that day, authorities apprehended 18-year-old Pedro Anthony Cornejo-Morales, also of Gresham, who was found hiding behind a nearby building. Cornejo-Morales is facing multiple charges, including first- and second-degree assault, second-degree attempted murder, and unlawful use of a weapon.

Following further investigation, detectives identified a second suspect and later arrested Hererra-Medrano in Gresham. He has been booked into the Clackamas County Jail and is being held without bail on charges of second-degree attempted murder and second-degree assault.

During the investigation, law enforcement officers also conducted a search of an apartment in Gresham, where they discovered evidence linked to the shooting, including a firearm.
