SALEM, Ore. — A 19-year-old woman and four teenage boys were arrested on Friday after being linked to a threatening incident involving a firearm. The arrests stemmed from reports that a group of juveniles had threatened an individual with a gun the previous day.
According to the Salem Police Department, officers were alerted Thursday to a situation on Kacey Circle NE in north Salem, where a person reported being threatened by a group of juveniles wielding a firearm. Authorities began their investigation promptly, which led to a vehicle related to the incident being stopped the following day.
The suspects — a 19-year-old woman and four teenage boys — were located inside the vehicle when police made the stop. During the arrest, one of the boys fled the scene and ran into a nearby house on Fultz Avenue NE. Officers were able to negotiate with the occupants of the home, and the boy was eventually apprehended without further incident.
Following the arrests, police seized the car involved in the incident. A search of the vehicle uncovered a gun, and further investigation revealed two additional firearms within the car in the days that followed, after a search warrant was executed.
The five individuals are facing multiple charges, including unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm, theft, and eluding police. While the exact charges for each person have not been disclosed, the police have confirmed that the group is connected to the threatening incident. The identities of the teenage boys have not been made public.
The investigation continued into the weekend, and on Monday, the Salem Police SWAT team executed a search warrant at the Fultz Avenue home where the boy had fled. Authorities found approximately 7 pounds of marijuana, a short-barreled rifle, multiple magazines, and a large amount of ammunition during the search.
The 19-year-old woman, whose name has not been released, has not yet been arraigned on any charges. Authorities have not provided additional details about the ongoing investigation.
This case underscores concerns about gun violence and juvenile involvement in illegal activities, with police continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the weapons and drugs found in the case.
